Speculation Surrounds Trump's Reaction to Mamdani's NYC Mayor Race Win
There is speculation that Republican party leaders, including Donald Trump, may be waiting for Zohran Mamdani's New York mayoral race win to create a rift within the Democratic Party.
In his victory speech, Mamdani challenged the US president, saying
"The Donald Trumps of our city have grown far too comfortable taking advantage of their tenants."
Trump responded on his Truth Social account, stating
"TRUMP WASN’T ON THE BALLOT, AND SHUTDOWN, WERE THE TWO REASONS THAT REPUBLICANS LOST ELECTIONS TONIGHT”and later posted
"…AND SO IT BEGINS!”
Despite Trump's comments, Democrats swept the elections on Monday.
