Lumberton City Council members Melissa Robinson, John Carroll, John Cantey, and Owen Thomas have been reelected.
Each candidate was the only name on the ballot and won by a wide margin. In Precinct 5, John Cantey won with 202 votes, despite two write-in campaigns by Keith Copeland and Darryl Genus, who combined for 27 votes.
“First and foremost, I’d like to thank God, all of our church families, civic groups and especially the residents of Precinct 5 for entrusting me to a sixth term as their representative,”
Cantey, the senior member of the council, has served since 2005 and won a sixth term. Author's summary: Council members reelected for new terms.
