Anthony Edwards returned from injury and scored 15 points in 29 minutes after missing four games due to a strained right hamstring. Despite his effort, the Minnesota Timberwolves were overwhelmed by the New York Knicks, who secured a 137–114 victory on Wednesday night.
OG Anunoby scored 25 points, Jalen Brunson added 23 points along with 10 assists and seven rebounds, and Josh Hart contributed 18 as the Knicks took control in the second half to stay unbeaten at Madison Square Garden with a 5–0 record.
Edwards’ impact was limited; the Timberwolves were outscored by 25 points during his time on the floor. The Knicks’ intensity on the boards was decisive—they turned 21 offensive rebounds into 31 second-chance points and dominated the second half 83–56 after trailing by four at halftime.
Julius Randle had an outstanding game with 32 points, while Donte DiVincenzo scored 21 in the arena that was once home for both before their move to Minnesota in the trade that brought Karl-Anthony Towns to New York. Towns finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Timberwolves.
“There wasn’t much the All-Star guard could have done to keep the game competitive.”
Randle opened strong with 18 points on 6-for-10 shooting in the first half. DiVincenzo, who set a Knicks franchise record with 283 three-pointers in 2023–24, hit four triples and scored 12 points as Minnesota led 58–54 at halftime.
Midway through the third quarter, Brunson and Anunoby combined for a 10–0 run to give the Knicks a 76–67 advantage. Edwards ended the streak with a three-point play—his first basket since early in the second quarter.
The Knicks dominated after halftime, powered by balanced scoring from Anunoby, Brunson, and Randle, while Edwards’ return couldn’t lift Minnesota out of a tough night at Madison Square Garden.
