The San Jose Sharks secured a decisive 6-1 victory over the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday, boosting their recent form to 4-1-1 in the last six games. Goaltender Yaroslav Askarov contributed 28 saves in the win.
Celebrini opened the scoring just 1:08 into the first period. Receiving a pass from Toffoli, he fired a wrist shot from the slot that beat Kraken goalie Joey Daccord.
"I was just in the slot and just there to put it in," Celebrini said. "[Smith and Toffoli], they did a great job, getting on their D and forcing a turnover."
Seattle's Ryan Winterton scored his first NHL goal to tie the game at 1-1 late in the first period.
Daccord made 15 saves before being replaced by Matt Murray in the third period, who stopped all three shots he faced.
"Our penalty kill was really good tonight. So that helps," Sharks coach Ryan Warsofsky said. "I thought our game got better as the game went on."
"Disconnected in a bunch of different areas," Kraken coach Lane Lambert said. "Our structure wasn't good enough tonight."
Author's summary: The Sharks showcased a strong team effort, highlighted by Celebrini’s leadership and solid goaltending from Askarov, leading to a convincing win against the Kraken.
