They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them.
This Remembrance Sunday, on 9 November, services and parades will take place throughout Angus, where wreaths will be laid in honor of those who gave their lives defending our freedom.
Angus Provost Craig Fotheringham encouraged residents to participate in local ceremonies or, if unable to attend, to spend a few quiet moments reflecting on the courage and sacrifice of the fallen.
Tuesday, 11 November – Armistice Day – offers another chance to pause and remember. At 11am, people at home or work are asked to stop for a two-minute silence in tribute to the bravery and dedication of the Armed Forces.
We must and will remember them.
Fotheringham also extended gratitude to the men and women currently serving both at home and abroad, underscoring that as they protect us, communities will stand by them in support.
He noted that recent years have brought uncertain times, with the harsh realities of war broadcast across many forms of media, reminding us of the importance of remembrance and unity.
