Any debate about the Miami Heat’s most crucial player was settled early in the team’s eighth game of the season when Bam Adebayo exited with a foot injury.
In Denver, the Heat struggled without Adebayo, who left in the first quarter due to a foot injury. Miami fell 122-112 to the Denver Nuggets at Ball Arena, evening their record at 4-4.
“Obviously it was too much to play through, and then obviously you don’t want to do anything more to cause any more lingering effects.”
“I felt a pain in my foot so I took it upon myself to check myself out and go see what happened,” Adebayo said. “I expect an MRI on Friday in Miami. We’ll get more tests tomorrow and see how it goes.”
Despite the injury, the team hopes for a quick recovery. Kel’el Ware, the 7-foot center who played much of the game in place of Adebayo, expressed optimism:
“Hope it’s nothing bad and he’ll be able to be back.”
Miami’s lack of size was evident, and Ware had little help to counter Denver’s dominance on the boards. This loss marked Miami’s 11th consecutive defeat to the Nuggets.
Nikola Jokic led Denver with a triple-double, scoring 33 points, handing out 16 assists, and grabbing 15 rebounds. Jokic had already secured the triple-double by mid-third period.
The Heat now face the challenge of managing Adebayo’s injury while maintaining competitiveness.
