Hundreds of residents in the Moss Park and Old Town areas of downtown Toronto have been without power for more than 24 hours due to a damaged cable, Toronto Hydro reported.
The outage covers the zone from just east of Parliament Street to just west of Jarvis Street, and from around Queen Street East to south of Front Street East, according to Toronto Hydro’s power outage map.
Crews arrived shortly after the outage began just after 8 a.m. on Wednesday and have worked through the night. Toronto Hydro stated they made “significant progress” and are “nearing completion” in repairing the cable.
However, the estimated time for power restoration was pushed back to 11 a.m. Thursday, approximately 27 hours after the outage started.
