Varun Chakaravarthy took a vital wicket, dismissing Glenn Maxwell for just 2 runs during the fourth T20I between India and Australia at Carrara Oval, Queensland, on November 6. His sharp googly in the 15th over caught Maxwell off guard as he attempted to play through the off side but missed completely. The ball clipped the top of the off-stump and was caught by the wicketkeeper.
“The batter attempted to create space and play it through the off side but missed the ball entirely. It went on to clip the top of the off-stump before settling into the wicketkeeper’s gloves.”
Chakaravarthy ended his four-over spell with figures of 1/26. He has now taken five wickets in this series and accumulated 26 wickets in 15 T20I matches this year.
India maintained control through disciplined bowling, restricting Australia to 103/6 at the time Maxwell fell. At 17 overs, Australia was 116/8 with Ben Dwarshuis and Nathan Ellis at the crease. Axar Patel, Shivam Dube, and Washington Sundar each took two wickets to star with the ball.
Earlier in the match, India posted a total of 167/8 in their 20 overs after batting first.
Varun Chakaravarthy’s key wicket and India’s combined bowling effort kept Australia under pressure in the critical stages of the match.
