Angus Robertson faced criticism for allegedly "being asleep at the wheel" amid the ongoing issues at Historic Environment Scotland (HES), the Scottish Government's heritage agency.
The situation came under scrutiny during a Holyrood committee session where Robertson, the culture secretary, was questioned about his handling of the crisis. Critics, led by Scottish Conservative MSP Stephen Kerr and supported by Jamie Halcro Johnstone, challenged Robertson's response. Robertson defended his actions with backing from SNP deputy leader Keith Brown.
"Ms Brown had come back to work to sign off the organisation's accounts but had not resumed her full duties as chief executive."
The committee continues to assess whether Robertson was sufficiently proactive in addressing the turmoil within HES or if he failed to take firm control.
Angus Robertson's leadership is under intense scrutiny as Historic Environment Scotland faces serious internal challenges, with questions about his level of engagement and response.
