Valentin Vacherot secured his first ATP title by defeating his cousin Arthur Rinderknech at the Shanghai Masters.
Vacherot, an alternate player, made his way into the main draw for the first time in his career and went on to win the Masters 1000 event.
He became the fifth man in history to win his first ATP title in a Masters 1000 level, following in the footsteps of Jakub Mensik, who won the Miami Open by beating Novak Djokovic.
Vacherot's successful run included a semifinal win against the 24-time Grand Slam champion and fifth-seeded player, Novak Djokovic.
