Deputies Return Fire in South Hill Standoff
Pierce County deputies engaged in a shootout with a domestic violence suspect at a home on Puyallup's South Hill on Sunday.
The incident began with reports of gunfire, as a 45-year-old suspect fired shots and threatened three others at a home near Puyallup's South Hill Mall.
According to Pierce County Sheriff's Spokesperson Carly Cappetto,
a woman and two children had fled the home through a back windowto escape the danger.
- The home is located on 106th Ave. E., just east of Meridian Ave.
- Neighboring houses were evacuated due to the risk of stray bullets.
- A 45-year-old woman was slightly injured, and two teenage girls were also involved.
When deputies arrived, another exchange of gunfire occurred, with at least one deputy firing their service weapon. The suspect eventually surrendered.
