Crackdown on Drug Use in Sudbury
Greater Sudbury Police Service Chief Sara Cunningham announced a crackdown on open drug use in the downtown core, starting in November.
“We will no longer tolerate open drug use,”
During the police board meeting, Chief Cunningham emphasized that the issue is a health crisis that cannot be resolved solely through enforcement.
“It’s a health crisis we’re not going to enforce our way out of,”
However, she noted that police must play a role and that enforcement may be the best option in some situations.
