Trump Commutes Sentence of George Santos
Donald Trump announced that he has commuted the 87-month prison sentence of former New York Republican Congressman George Santos.
“Santos had the Courage, Conviction, and Intelligence to ALWAYS VOTE REPUBLICAN!”
Santos was expelled from Congress in 2023 and pleaded guilty in 2024 to identity theft and wire fraud. At his sentencing, he stated:
“I allowed my ambition to cloud my judgment, leading me to make decisions that were unethical and guilty.”
Trump defended his decision, saying Santos was a "rogue" who didn't deserve a seven-year sentence. However, Santos pleaded guilty and could have received 22 years for his crimes.
