440 Main Restaurant has an extensive history and a permanent tenant. The building has been around for about 30 years and has a past of other businesses, making it one of the oldest in the city.
The building once had a banquet hall where people would come to dance. A young girl named Mary fell while dancing, although it's unclear whether she fell down a balcony or stairs. Mary has become a household name for 440 Main.
“Mickey, one of the other former owners, has told us stories that she’s experienced,”
General Manager Amanda Gilich says some staff members have had their own experience with Mary. She has had little experiences, such as catching a shadow or a weird feeling when closing the restaurant.
