Greek Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Ioannis Loverdos is urging Greek Australians to increase their involvement in Greek politics, starting by registering to vote.
Loverdos and his delegation met at the Greek Consulate General in Melbourne, where they discussed new initiatives to modernize services and strengthen cultural ties for the Diaspora.
Getting more involved and showing Greece that the Diaspora has a voice will be the first step toward bridging the gap.
Loverdos was accompanied by Stavros Venizelos, Ambassador of Greece to Australia and New Zealand, and emphasized the importance of the Diaspora's participation in Greek politics.
