Mayo Clinic to Leave Most Medicare Advantage Networks

Mayo Clinic will go out-of-network next year for most Medicare Advantage plans from two of the nation’s largest health insurers, UnitedHealthcare and Humana.

According to Christopher Snowbeck of The Minnesota Star Tribune, this change will affect tens of thousands of beneficiaries in Minnesota, who will need different insurance coverage to retain access to Mayo Clinic.

Neither Mayo nor the insurance companies provided explanations for the change. However, officials with the health care provider noted that Mayo is already out-of-network nationally with most Advantage plans, a privatized form of Medicare coverage.

No explanations were offered for the change by Mayo or the insurance companies.
