Book Brigade helps Polar Peak store start new chapter

Polar Peak Books is turning over a new chapter, moving to a fresh location in downtown Fernie, with help from the Book Brigade.

The community stepped forward to help the store move books from its former location at 592 2 Ave, to its new home just up the street at 482 2 Ave.

Loyal patrons and bookworms lined up on Fernie's main street on Sept. 23, passing books to each other.

Polar Peak's founder and original owner Laura Nelson had the honour of passing the first book down the line, to current co-owners Melanie Jeannotte and Maureen Tuggle.

"The Brigade was both practical and symbolic. It helped us move a chunk of books, but it was also an opportunity for everyone to gather and be part of the transition," said Jeannotte.
