Jahzeen Carpenter, the mother of Kami Carpenter, a man convicted of murdering young footballer Cody Fisher, has been found guilty of attempting to help her son flee the country.
Cody Fisher, 23, from Redditch, was fatally stabbed at the Crane nightclub in Birmingham on Boxing Day 2022. Jahzeen Carpenter was accused of trying to help her son escape to Jamaica between December 25 and December 29, 2022, knowing or believing him to be guilty of the murder.
The jury at Wolverhampton Crown Court reached a unanimous guilty verdict in less than two hours on September 5. Yesterday, Jahzeen Carpenter was handed a two-year suspended sentence and ordered to carry out 40 rehabilitation days as part of her sentence.
She avoided a spell behind bars.
