Sonoma Exhibit Features Artist's Detailed Botanical Illustrations
Sonoma artist Jill O'Keeffe's detailed botanical illustrations are on exhibit at Sonoma Valley Regional Library through October.
When Jill O'Keeffe was a high school student, she was selected to draw illustrations for a book by a prominent botanist, sparking a lifelong passion.
I learned to love the focus and detail required for botanical illustration, O'Keeffe said.
She enjoyed seeking out tiny details of plants and creating illustrations she was proud of, using live or dried specimens and quill pens to create black and white drawings.
Sixty years later, O'Keeffe continues to illustrate plants, collaborating with other botanical illustrators to advance her skills.
