NJ Advisory Group to Examine Inclusion of Students with Disabilities

A state council in New Jersey has announced plans to focus on the placement of young children with disabilities this year.

A new law regarding Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities will also go into effect.

New Jersey is the worst in the nation when it comes to inclusion — measured by how often students of all abilities are learning alongside one another in the classroom for at least 80 percent of the day.

The council will examine how the state trains educators and administrators and study whether there’s a link between a child’s disability and their placement.
