The Maine Department of Environmental Protection requires companies with significant groundwater wells to monitor water levels and reduce or halt pumping if levels drop too low.
According to the DEP, no water bottling operations have been required to reduce or stop withdrawals during this drought.
Poland Spring says it has implemented a "significant" reduction in withdrawals at their clear spring site in Hollis and other locations across Maine as of September 1.
