Data center power demand is increasing, with one hyper-scale data center requiring as much power as 2 million homes. Virginia currently has approximately 3.6 million homes.
A recent tour of a new hyper-scale power solution manufacturing facility in Henrico County highlighted the significant power demands of data centers. Both of Virginia's gubernatorial candidates recognize the importance of data center demand to the state's economic future, but they have differing ideas on how to meet this demand.
"This is the world's first and most compact and dense power distribution unit,"
said Dennis Strieter, co-founder of Hyper Solutions, during a tour of the company's new expansion in Henrico County. The unit delivers 1.3 million watts, equivalent to the power needed for 2,000 homes, to computer servers.
