Thankfully, no one was hurt, but the department highlighted two of the most notable fires.

The Holyoke Fire Department responded to several small fires on Monday. In one incident, crews responded to 115 Newton Street around noon, where they found a small fire in an abandoned building and quickly put it out. The cause is under investigation.

In another incident, crews responded to the Salvation Army building on Appleton Street just before 7:00 Monday night, where firefighters found smoke around the boiler and chimney area. An official investigation is underway, but firefighters believe it was caused by a faulty boiler.
