The City of Fargo provides residents with complimentary recycling for holiday string lights and disposal of shopping-related cardboard at designated facilities, promoting eco-friendly waste management through January.
Fargo residents can drop off string lights, including LED and older types, at the Household Hazardous Waste Facility located at 606 43½ St. N. The facility operates weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., accepting lights until January 31, 2026; rope-style lights are not eligible.
Extra cardboard from holiday shopping goes to the free Residential Transfer Station at the Fargo Landfill, 4501 7th Avenue North. Proof of residency may be required, helping reduce landfill waste during the season.
