The New Democratic Party (NDP) has won the general elections in St Vincent and the Grenadines, with a majority of seats in the House of Assembly.
The NDP, led by Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves, secured 12 seats in the 15-member House of Assembly, while the Unity Labour Party (ULP) won three seats.
The elections were held on March 9, 2023, and were marked by a low voter turnout.
“We are grateful to the people of St Vincent and the Grenadines for the trust they have placed in us,” Dr Gonsalves said in a statement.
The NDP's victory means that Dr Gonsalves will continue to serve as Prime Minister of the country.
The NDP's win is seen as a continuation of their dominance in Vincentian politics, having won the majority of seats in the House of Assembly since 2001.
This election was marked by a low voter turnout, with only 21,000 people out of a total of 92,000 eligible voters casting their ballots.
The NDP's win in St Vincent and the Grenadines is a testament to their continued popularity among the Vincentian people.
