Fforest Fields, a renowned camping and glamping destination in Hundred House near Llandrindod Wells, has submitted new expansion plans to Powys County Council. The site, which recently earned the title of Wales’ best campsite, aims to broaden its accommodation offerings.
If approved, the proposal would allow for the placement of nine new caravans along with the installation of three water treatment plants, drainage systems, and other associated infrastructure. The application highlights that the development is part of a larger tourism holding.
The plans include a combination of two- and three-bedroom static caravans positioned along the lake’s edge—a location that has been part of the site’s landscape since the 1980s.
“We began by diversifying a small field in the middle of the farm into a campsite,” the owners explained, “and some of our first visitors are still returning year after year.”
“Even though the site has grown and evolved over the years, we work hard to keep the spirit of that original little gem that so many people love.”
Run by Will and Natalie Barstow, the family enterprise was honored earlier this year at the 2025 Welsh Hospitality Awards as the best in the country.
Author’s summary: The family-run Fforest Fields campsite, crowned Wales’ best, plans a thoughtful expansion to enhance visitor comfort while preserving its original charm.
