Comedian Matt Rife is celebrating the season with a new global Netflix special titled Matt Rife: Unwrapped — A Christmas Crowd Work Special, premiering in December. The holiday-themed show was filmed in Phoenix, Arizona, and captures the festive atmosphere through Rife’s signature interactive comedy.
“With Unwrapped, Rife explores gifts, traditions, and who’s made it on the naughty or nice list this year,”
according to Netflix.
The special is directed by Erik Griffin, a close friend and fellow comedian, and produced by Rife’s company Carpe Noctem alongside Christina Shams, Avesta Entertainment, and Above Average. Rife also served as executive producer.
Unwrapped marks Rife’s third consecutive Netflix special, following Matt Rife: Natural Selection and Matt Rife: Lucid — A Crowd Work Special. His 2023 release reached the Top 10 in 42 countries, topped the charts in the United States, Canada, and South Africa, and became one of Netflix’s most-watched specials in late 2023.
After that success, Rife signed a multi-special and development deal with Netflix, leading to the 2024 premiere of Lucid, which stayed in the global Top 10 for two weeks.
Rife is currently continuing his worldwide tour, Matt Rife: Stay Golden, with upcoming performances across Michigan and beyond. The release of his holiday special adds another milestone to his rapidly expanding comedy career.
Author’s summary: Matt Rife returns to Netflix this December with a lively Christmas-themed comedy special, showcasing his crowd work and festive humor while continuing his strong partnership with the streaming giant.
