Nick Tyrrell, party president and founder of GoBoat Australia, has been chosen as the Canberra Liberals’ lead Senate candidate for the upcoming federal election.
A longtime resident of Canberra and accomplished local business leader, Mr. Tyrrell launched GoBoat Australia on Lake Burley Griffin in 2017. This eco-friendly tourism business, now operating in four states with headquarters on the Kingston foreshore, represents one of Canberra’s standout small business successes.
Living in the Inner South with his partner and two young children, Mr. Tyrrell has contributed significantly to revitalizing Canberra’s waterfront, creating jobs, and promoting the city’s lifestyle to residents and tourists.
Mr. Tyrrell’s experience includes roles as a Liberal staffer and senior government adviser. He expressed a strong commitment to giving back to the community and championing policies designed to improve life for local families, small businesses, and first-home buyers.
“I’m fighting for practical reform: tackling housing affordability, giving families genuine childcare choice, and ensuring the national capital gets the attention and investment it deserves,” Mr Tyrrell said.
In other developments, the University of Canberra has attracted a ‘marquee player’ to lead its new politics and history centre.
Author’s summary: Nick Tyrrell’s candidacy blends business success and public service, focusing on practical reforms to boost Canberra’s families, economy, and capital investment.
