A woman is in critical condition after being stabbed in the neck in what police describe as an unprovoked attack in Birmingham city centre.
The attack occurred at 9pm on Friday, 7 November, near Smallbrook Queensway, outside Boots, within the Bullring shopping area.
The victim, a woman in her 30s, suffered a serious neck injury and was taken to hospital where she remains critically ill.
“We have tonight charged a man with attempted murder after a woman was stabbed in Birmingham,” West Midlands Police said.
Djeison Rafael, 21, a Black British national, was arrested at the scene and charged with attempted murder, two additional assaults, and possession of a blade.
He has been remanded to appear before magistrates on Monday, 10 November 2025.
This stabbing is the third such attack in the past month around the Bullring shopping area.
West Midlands Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
