A 21-year-old man, Djeison Rafael, has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a woman in the neck in Birmingham city centre. The victim, a woman in her 30s, sustained a serious neck injury and remains in critical condition in hospital.
The stabbing occurred outside the Bullring shopping centre on Smallbrook Queensway shortly before 9pm on Friday. Police responded quickly to the reports of the attack.
"We are continuing our inquiries and are keen to hear from anyone who knows more about what happened."
