The National Cold War Center in Blytheville announced that Mike Pompeo, former U.S. Secretary of State and CIA Director, has joined as a special advisor. In this capacity, Pompeo will collaborate with the Center’s board of directors and national advisory board to shape its strategic goals, fundraising efforts, and educational programs.
The Center is located on the grounds of the former Blytheville Air Force Base, later known as Eaker AFB, in Blytheville. This base was once part of the Strategic Air Command and played a key role in America's nuclear deterrence during the Cold War until its closure in 1992. Plans are in progress to transform the site into a premier museum and educational venue.
“The National Cold War Center’s mission of educating Americans on the Cold War and America’s stunning triumph over Soviet tyranny is more important than ever. I’m proud to be part of this important effort to advance the understanding of this critical period in world history.”
