Thailand has taken a significant step toward building a national drone infrastructure with a large-scale aerial delivery pilot in Bangkok. The event, titled “The New Era of Drone Delivery,” was led by the National Telecom Public Company Limited (NT), the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), and High Lander Aviation, a global provider of unmanned traffic management (UTM) systems.
The partnership between NT and High Lander showcased how integrated UTM technology can safely manage drone flights in a busy urban environment. High Lander’s Vega UTM platform was linked with NT’s advanced 5G network to provide real-time flight coordination, visibility, and safety monitoring for all participating drones.
“CAAT’s role is to regulate aviation safety and promote the advancement of the aviation industry. Supporting innovation and technological development in unmanned aircraft and related systems is a key part of our mission,” said Air Chief Marshal Manat Chavanaprayoon, Director General of the CAAT.
This pilot program highlights Thailand’s commitment to fostering innovation in drone technology and integrating it safely into urban airspace management.
