On November 6, Jetstar announced a new route commencing in March, connecting Sunshine Coast, Bali, and Singapore. This marks the low-cost carrier’s expansion from Australia’s tenth-busiest airport by passenger traffic.
The route spans 3,308 nautical miles (6,126 km) one way, with flights scheduled three times weekly aboard Jetstar’s 232-seat Airbus A321LR. The aircraft's all-economy configuration offers very low seat-mile costs, making it suitable for extended routes.
Bali holds strong appeal for Australians, similar to Cancun for Americans and Malaga for Europeans. Recent developments include new Bali services from the Gold Coast and Newcastle, the latter becoming Newcastle’s longest-ever international route.
Due to the lack of available traffic rights from Australia's main cities to Bali, Jetstar has pursued innovative routing, supported by significant financial incentives to stimulate demand.
"The brand-new one-stop route will cover 3,308 nautical miles (6,126 km) each way... It is underpinned by tasty financial incentives, and will start on March 24."
Booking data for Sunshine Coast to Bali and Singapore is scarce, mainly because most travelers currently opt to drive to Brisbane for nonstop flights. Despite this, Jetstar expects to grow demand with its new service.
Jetstar’s innovative one-stop Sunshine Coast to Bali and Singapore route leverages cost-efficient aircraft and financial incentives to tap into growing regional travel demand.
