Juliette Spencer-Besant, 47, from Havant, is in disbelief after winning £250,000 on the People's Postcode Lottery. She had intended to cancel her direct debit but forgot amid a busy schedule.
Her postcode, PO9 2LD, representing a nine-storey block of flats in Leigh Park, was drawn as the weekly Millionaire Street prize. Three ticket holders from this postcode each won a quarter of a million pounds.
Juliette called it "the luckiest thing that’s ever happened to me."
Juliette was shocked when Postcode Lottery ambassador Judie McCourt arrived at her door with the cheque.
“There was disbelief when I saw the cheque and then a wave of emotion came over me. But I managed to pull it together.”
She explained her plans to cancel the lottery direct debit but was sidetracked by work and other subscriptions.
“I was going through direct debits and bits and pieces... I didn’t get round to cancelling the Postcode Lottery. It’s probably the luckiest thing that’s ever happened to me. I’ll keep playing now.”
Juliette plans to invest her winnings wisely but also treat herself first.
Summary: Juliette’s unexpected lottery win after forgetting to cancel her ticket shows how luck can change life amidst everyday distractions.
