Greater Dandenong Council Wins Sustainability Award

Greater Dandenong City Council has been honoured for its exceptional dedication to sustainability by receiving the 2025 Cities Litter Award at the 43rd Annual Keep Australia Beautiful Victoria Tidy Towns & Cities Sustainability Awards. These awards recognise environmental accomplishments and strong community spirit throughout Victoria.

The awards highlight initiatives that empower individuals, alter behaviours, protect the environment, reduce waste, and encourage the involvement of youth and Indigenous communities, while building resilience.

Waste Services Team Recognised

The Council’s Waste Services team earned the award for their campaign titled ‘Bin It or Take It Home With You’. This initiative educates residents on proper litter disposal and raises awareness about the environmental damage caused by litter.

“This award is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our Waste Services Team, not just for this project, but for the work they do every day,” said Council Executive Director City Futures, Sanjay Manivasagasivam.

He added, “We’re proud to lead initiatives that make our city cleaner.”
