Radio 2 DJ Sara Cox is undertaking a demanding 135-mile journey to support Children In Need this year.
The Bolton-born presenter begins her five-day mission today, Monday, November 10. Starting in Kielder Forest near the Scottish borders, she plans to finish in Pudsey, Leeds by Friday, November 14.
Sara's "Great Northern Marathon Challenge" involves running, jogging, and walking on foot across four counties:
The total distance covered will be 135 miles, concluding just in time for the Children In Need broadcast on BBC One.
Sara follows in the footsteps of her Radio 2 co-star Paddy McGuinness, who raised £10 million last year through a tough cycling challenge. Unlike Paddy, Sara will complete her journey entirely on foot.
“We’re talking 135 miles of hills, moors and blisters – but I am ready for the challenge, and I will absolutely be giving it everything I’ve got!”
“When they picked me to get Pudsey to Pudsey, I was honoured and horrified in equal measure.”
Throughout the trek, Sara will carry Pudsey Bear, aiming to bring "Pudsey" to Pudsey in Leeds.
