A woman and a child drowned after falling into Dandenong Creek on the afternoon of 10 November, police report.
A witness saw two people swept away near Allan Street at about 3:45 pm. It is believed the woman tried to help the child and then also got into trouble in the water.
Police searched the area, found the unconscious pair, and pulled them from the creek. CPR was administered, but they could not be revived and were declared dead on the scene.
The identities of the woman and child remain unknown for now. Police are preparing a report for the coroner.
