Ben Sulayem's Re-election to FIA Presidency
Ben Sulayem is close to being re-elected to the FIA, with no rival capable of challenging him in the December elections.
Ahead of the December 12 elections in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, none of the potential rivals have managed to submit a team meeting the required candidacy criteria.
Initially, three candidates had expressed their intention to challenge him:
- Tim Mayer, former Formula 1 race steward
- Laura Villars, Swiss driver
- Virginie Philippot, Belgian television host
The chances of anyone snatching the FIA presidency from Mohammed Ben Sulayem now seem to have vanished.
Everything suggests a second four-year term for the former Emirati driver, who took office in December 2021.
