Nico O'Reilly praised City's strong reaction after their recent defeat to Aston Villa, as they regained form with a 3-1 Premier League victory over Bournemouth. This win followed a Carabao Cup success against Swansea earlier in the week.
The nine-match unbeaten streak across all competitions was snapped at Villa Park last weekend, but City quickly returned to winning ways at the Etihad Stadium. Erling Haaland scored twice, and O’Reilly added a clever finish, helping propel the team to second place in the Premier League table, six points behind leaders Arsenal.
“Everyone’s happy to get the three points and to get the win. So yeah I thought we bounced back well. We knew that before the game coming into it. We knew they were going to do that [high line]. We knew there were spaces there. I think we exploited them well. We took our chances, we had a few more chances we could have taken but yeah I thought we used that space well.”
O’Reilly also reflected on his goal and expressed growing confidence playing in the first team. He is now looking forward to important upcoming matches against Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool.
