Mark Richt, the former Georgia and Miami football coach, took to social media to clarify false reports about his health. Despite some online claims, Richt confirmed he is not currently hospitalized.
“Apparently, there’s something out there on the Internet saying that I’m in the hospital,” Richt posted on X. “Lol.”
Richt humorously mentioned his recent struggle with mobility, saying, “If you would have seen me running down the street today, it was so pitiful you probably would have thought I needed to be admitted to the hospital.”
In 2021, Richt announced his Parkinson’s diagnosis to his followers. He openly shared how his symptoms have affected him: “I have been waddling around lately and people have asked me what’s wrong.”
“I have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Truthfully I look at it as a momentary light affliction compared to the future glory in heaven. Thank you Jesus for promising us a future blessing of a glorified body that has no sin and no disease. In the meantime I am going to enjoy the blessings that I do have. See you on the ACC Network!”
Earlier, in 2019, Richt experienced a heart attack but has continued to remain active, including his role as an ACC Network analyst.
Richt remains positive and grateful despite his health struggles and maintains a public presence through broadcasting.
Summary: Mark Richt denies hospitalization rumors, openly discusses his Parkinson’s diagnosis, and reflects on his coaching legacy with optimism and faith.
