First Dose of Wintry Weather to Hit GTA on Sunday

Environment Canada forecasts 2 to 10 cm of snow starting Sunday morning and lasting throughout the day.

Meteorologist Insights

“This is system snow, it’s going to be widespread, so this is indeed our first widespread snow event of the season,” said CityNews Meteorologist Chris Potter.

Potter explained the system will mainly bring snow across much of southern Ontario. It will begin as showers overnight, turning into snow by Sunday morning. After a short break, snowfall will pick up again in the afternoon and continue into the evening.

“Keep in mind what falls might not equate to what stays on the ground,” Potter added, mentioning downtown could see around 2 cm while northern areas might get 5 to 10 cm.

Travel Advisory

Environment Canada warns motorists to prepare for challenging driving conditions and to adjust travel plans accordingly.

Author’s summary: The Greater Toronto Area will experience its first significant snowfall of the season on Sunday, with varying amounts expected and travel disruptions likely.
