At a November 5 screening of her new film Eternity, actress Elizabeth Olsen revealed what keeps her grounded amid her busy career. For the past three years, she has maintained a daily habit of journaling every morning.
Olsen explains, “I journal in the morning. Sometimes it's just what happened yesterday. Sometimes it's about what I'm reading. It’s kind of everything.” This ritual helps her slow down and organize her thoughts. “You slow down your thoughts, I think, when you start writing by hand,” she adds.
The habit is not only a personal wellness practice but also a tool for her work as an actress and producer. Olsen says, “It's really helpful for work. I have three different journals. I have a work journal that's separate for creating a character.”
At the Eternity screening in Los Angeles, Olsen was accompanied by her husband, Robbie Arnett.
“Mostly, journaling each day for the past three years has been just a way to slow everything down.”
Her daily journaling practice supports both her personal wellbeing and creative process, contributing to her success in projects ranging from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to her latest film.
Elizabeth Olsen credits her three-year daily morning journaling habit with helping her manage thoughts, enhance creativity, and maintain balance amid a demanding acting career.
