The Atlas of Innovation in Public Communication is a UNDP-led initiative aimed at identifying, celebrating, and amplifying innovative public communication methods that enhance openness, participation, inclusion, and trust.
This global effort shines a light on practices that transform how institutions engage with people, especially those traditionally excluded from decision-making.
Public institutions, along with civil society organizations, academia, media, and communication practitioners, are invited to share their most creative and impactful experiences.
Selected initiatives will be showcased in a curated Atlas of Public Communication, gaining international recognition and contributing to shared learning for improved governance.
Public communication is the deliberate use of communication by institutions serving society, focused on the public good. It aims to build connections, foster inclusion, and create social value.
Public communication "is essential because it directly impacts the quality of public debate – and with it the quality of governance."
Unlike political communication, which serves political competition, public communication prioritizes the public interest.
