Alexis Black, a 32-year-old transgender woman from Los Angeles, became the subject of national attention after a heated confrontation at Gold's Gym in Beverly Hills. The incident occurred when singer Tish Hyman loudly objected to Black using the women’s locker room.
"Grown men with big d**ks are in the women's locker room. And I want to make sure the girls know."
Witnesses said Hyman shouted this as she was escorted out of the gym on Sunday. Black, who began her hormonal transition in February and previously went by the name Grant Freeman, told the Daily Mail she felt insulted by the exchange. She also noted that this was not her first encounter with Hyman over the same issue.
"She didn't want to do introductions," Black said, describing the uncomfortable moment that started inside the locker room.
Originally from Ohio, Black is a divorcee and former DJ. She stated she has consistently used the women’s facilities since beginning estrogen and progesterone treatment. According to her, she is transparent about her transition and often discusses it with other women while working out at Gold’s Gym, which is now owned by EoS Fitness.
