Musetti Keeps ATP Finals Hopes Alive with Tight Win

Lorenzo Musetti remains in contention for qualifying for the year-end Nitto ATP Finals in Turin after defeating Sebastian Korda in the Hellenic Championship semi-finals. Musetti prevailed in a closely contested match with a score of 6-0, 5-7, 7-5.

The Italian faces Novak Djokovic in the final, which is crucial for his qualification hopes. Djokovic advanced to his 144th ATP Tour final by overcoming Yannick Hanfmann in the other semi-final.

Currently, Canada's Felix Auger-Aliassime holds the eighth and final qualifying spot. However, Musetti could secure a place in the Bjorn Borg Group alongside Auger-Aliassime, Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev, and Ben Shelton, should he beat Djokovic.

"I think we both played a fantastic match. The level was getting higher and the adrenaline was intense. I am super happy with the attitude I showed on court and the spirit I am trying to put in every day. Achieving the final here is really important and I am already focusing on tomorrow," Musetti said after his win.

Djokovic leads their head-to-head record 8-1, but Musetti is motivated to improve that statistic. He is aiming for his third ATP Tour title and first since Naples in 2022 when he meets Djokovic in Athens.

Author's summary: Lorenzo Musetti stays in the running for the ATP Finals after a tough semi-final win and now faces Novak Djokovic with a shot at qualification and a third career title.
