Warriors Triple Up Hitmen to Start the Week
The Moose Jaw Warriors ended their losing streak with a decisive 6–2 victory over the Calgary Hitmen on Wednesday night.
First Period Highlights
The Warriors opened the scoring with a power play goal just before the seven-minute mark, when Pavel McKenzie netted his fifth goal of the season. Shortly after returning to even strength, Dominik Pavlik extended the lead with the team’s second goal. The Warriors earned another power play opportunity with over five minutes remaining but did not convert. Team captain Lynden Lakovic scored soon after at even strength, pushing the Warriors to a 3–0 lead. The first period concluded with the Warriors killing off a penalty against Steven Steranka.
Second Period Summary
Early in the second period, Moose Jaw successfully defended against the Hitmen during the remainder of Steranka’s penalty. However, the Warriors faced a penalty kill again just after the four-minute mark due to a kneeing penalty on defenceman Connor Schmidt. Calgary capitalized on their second power play of the game to score their first goal. Later, minor penalties to Brady Ness and Harrison Lodewyk resulted in a four-on-four situation following a scrum near goaltender Chase Wutzke’s crease.
