After two decades as 9News Melbourne's weather presenter, Livinia Nixon will step down from her role but remain involved with other Nine programs.
Livinia Nixon joined the Nine Network in 1997 and began presenting the 9News Melbourne weather in 2004. She has been a beloved figure in Melbourne homes for 20 years. Her final weather bulletin will air on Tuesday, 18 November.
“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them.”
Nixon explained her decision coincides with her two sons entering their senior years of schooling and her desire to spend more time with family.
“It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family.”
Although stepping away from nightly weather presenting, Livinia will continue hosting Nine’s travel shows Getaway and Postcards.
“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me. When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’ I’m thrilled to be staying with Nine and will be continuing my roles on Getaway and Postcards.”
Summary: Livinia Nixon is stepping down from her long-time weather presenting role at 9News Melbourne to prioritize family, while continuing her involvement in Nine's travel programs.
