9News Melbourne will say farewell to one of its most beloved faces this month, as weather presenter Livinia Nixon prepares to step down on November 18.
Livinia Nixon first joined the network in 1997 and has been the face of weather for 9News Melbourne since 2004. The 50-year-old announced her decision to leave after more than two decades in the role.
"After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I've decided to step back from this role," Nixon said. "My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them. It's been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers' homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family."
She shared that the decision came from a desire to spend more time with her family during an important phase of her children's lives.
"Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me," Nixon continued. "When I discussed it with our boys, they said, 'We're pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.'"
Although Livinia is leaving her weekly weather presenting duties, she will remain with the Nine Network.
Livinia Nixon is ending her 20-year tenure as 9News Melbourne’s weather presenter to prioritize her family as her sons begin high school, while continuing her career within the network.
