Florida center Olivier Rioux, standing 7'9", set a new record on Thursday by becoming the tallest player ever to appear in a Division I college basketball game. Rioux, a redshirt freshman, played the final 2 minutes and 9 seconds of Florida's 104-64 home victory over North Florida.
Although he did not record any statistics during his brief time on the court, the opportunity was limited. Rioux hails from Terrebonne, Quebec, Canada, and attended IMG Academy in Florida for high school basketball. He was rated as a 3-star recruit in the class of 2024 and received scholarship offers from Florida Atlantic and Stetson before committing to Florida in November.
