Ben Shapiro, co-founder of The Daily Wire, strongly criticized Tucker Carlson on Monday for his recent interview with far-right activist Nick Fuentes. He accused Carlson of amplifying extremist views unworthy of mainstream conservative discourse.
The confrontation highlights deepening divides within MAGA circles about whether to tolerate or defend rhetoric tied to racism, sexism, and antisemitism. Both Shapiro and Carlson command massive online audiences that often exceed those of traditional media personalities.
"He acts as an ideological launderer. He takes other people's hideous ideas, treats them with love and care, and then provides them with a massive signal boost."
Shapiro used his entire Monday show to attack Carlson’s approach, labeling him an "intellectual coward" and a "dishonest interlocutor." While he emphasized he wasn't trying to “cancel” either Carlson or Fuentes, Shapiro argued that legitimizing such figures damages the right’s credibility.
Fuentes and Carlson’s representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The dispute continues a feud between Shapiro and Carlson, which previously flared during debates over the war in Israel—when Carlson accused Shapiro of focusing more on foreign conflicts than domestic ones.
Shapiro’s sharp rebuke of Carlson marks another fracture in conservative media, revealing a growing struggle over how far the movement will go in tolerating extremist voices.
